Announcing: Composer Competition (open to all)
Calling all aspiring (or already established) composers!
I hope for this to be the first of many such competitions. The goal for all of this is to bring together artists from around the world. Ultimately, healthy competition can inspire and motivate us to get better. When we listen to others, we learn new and exciting things.
This is your chance to have your voice heard by many other likeminded composers and get feedback on your work.
What we’re looking for: originality, realism, overall quality, and general musicianship.
INFO:
When? Starts November 7th, ends December 1st 2012. Any submissions received after the end date will not be entered into the competition.
What? Submit up to 3 works in any style or genre in mp3 format to andrewgerlichermusic@gmail.com (no remixes of music you did not originally compose). You may submit any work regardless of when it was written or what it was written for. Any style or genre will be eligible. I happen to write soundtrack music, but that won’t be a factor when it comes time to select a winner. In the subject box, please write “AGYCC- [your name]“. In the email body, please include your name, your age, where you are from, your favorite composer, as well as any web pages (such as YouTube or SoundCloud) that you use to share your music (if any).
Judges: WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON (hint, I’m one of them)
Who: This competition is open to anyone, worldwide.
WINNERS: The winner will receive an iTunes gift card for $200, for the purpose of purchasing Logic Pro from the App Store. If you already own Logic, you can keep the $200 and spend as you wish, or we can talk privately about comparable prizes. The top 5 submission will receive recognition as “best of show”, but only one top submission will receive the “grand prize”.
I’m VERY excited about this and can’t wait to hear what you all come up with.
Best,
Andrew
Are you going to split the entries into age categories?
Awesome!
If we are Digital Performer stalwarts can we use the $200 towards an ipad instead? (They make great remote controllers)
Can the song be a collaboration of 2 people?
Where can I share my songs for the competition??
Thank you, nice initiative!
when do we get the results
